Sign up here to volunteer with TRDC at the Cherry Blossom Health & Fitness Expo on Friday, March 31, from 9:30am-2pm. The Expo is part of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom race weekend and takes place at the National Building Museum (401 F Street NW).
Our volunteer assignment for this year is t-shirt set-up. All volunteers will be provided a long-sleeve volunteer t-shirt as well as a transferable, guaranteed entry to the 2018 Cherry Blossom race (entry fee not included).
If you are unable to volunteer on Friday morning but would like to visit us at the Expo, we would love to have students and volunteers help man the TRDC table! Please use the same RSVP form to indicate your availability on Friday, 3/31, from 3-8pm, or on Saturday, 4/1, from 9am-5pm.
There will be no Saturday practice this weekend so that runners can rest up in preparation for the Cherry Blossom 10 miler or 5K on Sunday, April 2!
- Metro: You can take the Metro (Blue and Orange lines) to the Smithsonian Mall stop, which is .25 mile from the staging area on the Washington Monument Grounds. Other possible stops include L’Enfant Plaza (Blue, Orange, Green and Yellow Lines), about .8 of a mile from the start; Metro Center (Red, Orange and Blue lines), about .9 of a mile from the start; or Archives (Green and Yellow lines), about .9 of a mile from the start. Due to the proximity of the Smithsonian stop, there will be no shuttle bus service for Metro users. PLEASE NOTE: Metro will open at 7am on race day! In the past, Metro has opened at 5am; however, due to safe tracking operations, they are sticking to a 7am start time this year. Metro is recommended for 5K runners arriving at 7:45am; however, for 10 milers arriving at 6:45am, we recommend considering alternative transportation options.
- Bus: Use the WMATA Trip Planner to plot out your bus route to the race.
- Biking: In the past, Cherry Blossom has offered a bike valet service. Stay tuned for more information on this year’s plans.
- Driving: Very limited parking is available on surrounding streets. We do NOT advise driving unless you are being dropped off. If you are driving your mentee to the race, plan to drop them off and then park remotely. Best parking options are east of 7th street and north of the National Mall. If you are planning to park in the area, please leave yourself enough time to make it to our meeting place.
POST-RACE GATHERING: Weather permitting, we will reconvene at the Course Marshals Tent after the race, at around 10am, where we will celebrate our running accomplishments with games, food, and fun until 11am!
