Take the challenge

Become part of Teens Run DC and run towards success in running, success in life.  For some of you, it will mean training for a 10K race (6.2 miles); for others, a ten miler or half marathon; for others still, a marathon, 26.2 miles.   These are no small goals.  You are taking on something BIG.  If you do this (and you can), what can’t you accomplish?!

We will help you reach your goals.  Through Teens Run DC, you will learn discipline, responsibility, and goal-setting skills.  You will gain self-confidence and achieve better health.  You will be part of a team of peers who share a vision of making something of their lives.  You will have the support of mentors who are committed to your success.

A commitment to running

You do not have to be an experienced runner to join Teens Run DC. What you do need is the ability to envision, to commit, and to act.

Envision What race do you want to train for?  A 10K?  A ten miler?  A half- marathon?

Commit What are you prepared to do to achieve your goal?  What’s your  plan? What are you prepared to sacrifice?

Act Put your vision and commitment into action!  Run steady and  strong.

If you attend weekday practice two to three days a week and long runs or races on weekends, you can go whatever distance you set for yourself, and perhaps more.  Whether you run a half-marathon or a 10K race, you are a winner when you show up each week.  That’s commitment put into action.  That’s the stuff of success.  It’s that simple!

A commitment to your life

This program is not just about running.  It’s also about taking yourself seriously.  The same skills you need to succeed in running, you can apply to succeed in life.  All runners in Teens Run DC are also asked to think about their lives.

Envision What do you want from school?  What do you want from your life?

Commit What are you prepared to do to get there?  What’s your plan? What are you prepared to sacrifice?

Act Are you putting your vision and commitment into action?  If not, why not?  What do you need to change?
